Working Principles

Sustainability starts with decisions taken on site

Where excavated material goes, how many times formwork is reused, how insulation is detailed — these are part of the work programme, not a separate heading.

  1. 01

    Resource and material management

Concrete, rebar and steel quantities are planned against the work programme, while formwork and scaffolding systems are dismantled for reuse. Excavated material is directed by first assessing on-site fill and levelling options.

  2. 02

    Waste and excavation discipline

Construction waste is segregated at dedicated collection points on site, and excavation and rubble haulage is directed to authorised disposal areas. Hazardous materials are stored separately and disposed of in line with regulation.

  3. 03

    Limiting environmental impact on site

Dust suppression, vehicle washing, noise and vibration measures are part of the plan during excavation and structural phases. Stormwater and drainage lines are built with controlled discharge of site water in mind.

  4. 04

    Operating life of the building

Façade, insulation and MEP works are detailed with the building's in-use energy consumption in mind. The equipment fleet follows a maintenance programme aimed at reducing fuel use and breakdown downtime.

  5. 05

    Site surroundings and neighbours

Heavy vehicle traffic, access hours and road use are planned together with neighbouring businesses and residents. Subcontractor teams are held to the same site rules.
